About the Academic Council of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic named after K. Dikambaev
The Academic Council is the highest governing body of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic. It carries out the general management of the Academy on the most important issues of its activities and prospective development.
The Academic Council is chaired by the Rector of the Academy and all organisational activities related to the Academic Council's direct work are carried out by the Scientific Secretary.
Throughout the history of the Diplomatic Academy of the MFA of the KR there have been significant changes both in the status and powers of the Academic Council and in the formation of its quantitative and qualitative composition.
The Academic Council includes a representative of the MFA KR, the Vice-Rector, heads of departments, heads of structural subdivisions of the DA MFA KR and from the Student Senate of the Academy. The Academic Council of the academy consists of 15 persons.
The authority of the Academic Council is broad and diverse. They touch upon all spheres of the Academy's activities: academic, scientific, methodological, educational, economic, publishing, financial, human resources, etc.
The Academic Council decides issues of opening or closing specialities in the HEI, approves curricula of educational activities, considers and approves the "Comprehensive Plan of the Academy's Perspective Development" and monitors its implementation. Besides, it performs supervisory and analytical functions of the main structural subdivisions of the departments, divisions by hearing the reports and taking relevant decisions on their further development and improvement.
The main activity of the Academic Council is concentrated on working out conceptual statements and actions in solution of the most perspective and urgent problems of higher education as applied to real conditions and possibilities of the Academy. First of all it concerns such problems as management of quality of training of specialists, introduction of multilevel system of education, rating estimation of education quality, elaboration of unified concept of educational work with students as well as problems connected with employment of graduates and strengthening of educational scientific-production and international relations of the Academy with leading scientific centres, universities and organizations.
The agenda of the Academic Council meetings is always full of many issues which require thorough discussion and effective decisions. All issues under consideration are resolved thanks to the high professional level of the members of the Academic Council and the well thought-out organisational structure of its activities.
Currently the Academy has an active Academic Council which is capable of dealing with the most important issues of the University development. The issues presented at the meetings are prepared in a quality and thorough manner by the working commissions formed on the main areas of activities of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Academic Council considers human resource issues with special attention and integrity. It determines the strategy of training scientific and pedagogical personnel, improving their skills, selecting the reserve to fill managerial positions. At the meeting of the Academic Council the competitive cases for election to the pedagogical posts, presentation of the most qualified teachers to the academic titles as well as election of heads of the departments according to the approved schedule are examined.
By decisions of the Academic Council honoured employees are nominated for honorary titles and awards of all levels, including state awards.
Upon the initiative of the Academic Council scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as honorary titles and awards "Honorary Professor" and others have been established in the Academy. Many staff members and alumni, distinguished figures of the country and foreign guests have already received these awards.
