On May 15–16, 2025, the International Scientific-Practical Conference titled “Establishing a National GDU Network: Objectives and Implementation Pathways” was held at Osh State University within the framework of the Erasmus+ GREENKG project: “Green and Digital Universities for Sustainable Development of Kyrgyzstan”. The highlight of the event was the unanimous adoption of the Model for a National Network of Green and Digital Universities (GDU) and its Action Plan. These foundational documents pave the way for a long-term digital and green transformation of higher education across Kyrgyzstan.
Participants were introduced to innovative digital solutions implemented by OshSU, including electronic dashboards, facial recognition systems, robotics laboratories, and a satellite analysis center.
Special attention was given to the role of students in promoting sustainability. A student from the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy and a member of the student senate delivered a presentation on the importance of improving environmental literacy among youth. As a result, the project partners unanimously decided to establish a national network of student senates, which will operate within the GREENKG project framework and provide a platform for active student engagement in the green and digital transformation of universities.
The conference became a landmark event for the academic community of Kyrgyzstan, offering a high-quality platform for experience exchange and strategic cooperation. It marked an important step toward creating a unified academic and scientific space focused on a sustainable future.
The GREENKG project, coordinated by the Diplomatic Academy, is not only being successfully implemented but is already shaping real, qualitative changes in the university landscape of Kyrgyzstan. The establishment of the national GDU network and student senate network lays a solid foundation for systemic and sustainable transformations in higher education.
